About the drip
What the Hydration Drip is
The simplest infusion we offer, and the one everything else is built on. A bag of sterile intravenous fluid, either 0.9% sodium chloride (saline) or Hartmann's solution, which contains sodium, potassium, calcium and lactate in proportions close to blood plasma. The clinician chooses between the two based on your consultation.
Because the fluid goes straight into a vein, it rehydrates faster than drinking, which is why hospitals use the same fluids. It does not contain vitamins or medicines, and there is nothing in it you could not get from drinking well over a few hours. What you are paying for is speed, and a clinician making sure it is done properly.

- Electrolytes as part of the base solution
- Nothing else. This drip contains no vitamins, minerals or amino acids.
Is it for you?
Who books it
People who have been unwell and are struggling to keep fluids down, people who have travelled long-haul, people after a demanding physical event, and people who simply want the base infusion before deciding whether to try a vitamin drip. If you have been vomiting for more than 24 hours, have a high fever, or feel faint, please contact your GP or NHS 111 rather than booking a drip; you may need to be seen medically.

What to expect

Settle in
You will be seated in a reclining chair in a private treatment room.

The cannula
A trained clinician inserts a small cannula, usually into the arm or hand, and connects the infusion. Most people describe a small scratch and nothing more.

The drip
You are free to read, work or rest while the drip runs. We check on you throughout.

Afterwards
We stay with you for a short period afterwards. You can drive, work and carry on with your day immediately.
Before you book
Safety and suitability
Every IV infusion at FastHeal Clinic Woking starts with a consultation and health screening. A prescriber reviews your medical history, current medicines and any allergies before anything is prepared. Some people should not have an IV nutrient infusion, including anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with kidney disease, heart failure, or certain metabolic conditions, and anyone under 18. If we are not confident an infusion is appropriate for you, we will say so and suggest an alternative.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a hospital drip?
The fluids are the same licensed products used in NHS hospitals. The setting and the reason are different: we offer this as a private, elective service for people who are otherwise well.
Will it cure a hangover?
We do not make that claim, and UK rules do not allow us to. Fluids will rehydrate you. That is all we say.
Can I add vitamins to it?
Yes. The Multivitamin Drip and Myers Cocktail are the same base with nutrients added. The prescriber can talk you through the options on the day.
